Maths Autumn 2
In Maths, we will be spending spending the first two weeks back working on 'Fractions', including simplifying, comparing and ordering, as well as adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators and mixed numbers and generating and describing number sequences involving fractions.
Moving on to consider 'Decimals', we will be identifying the value of each digit and multiplying/dividing by 10, 100 and 1000, as well as multiplying decimals by whole numbers and using written division in cases where the answer has up to 2 decimal places. Additionally, we will be solving problems which require answers to be rounded to a specific degree of accuracy.
Finally, we will be exploring 'Geometry' through co-ordinate activities involving all four quadrants and drawing, translating and reflecting simple shapes, as well as further developing our geometry and statistics understanding by interpreting and constructing pie charts and line graphs, calculating the mean as an average and identifying/calculating parts of a circle, including radius, diameter and circumference.
Throughout our maths learning this year, we will continue our emphasis on solving number and practical problems, including both single and multi-step word problems amongst other reasoning problems, as well as further strengthening our underpinning arithmetic skills.
