What is Construction used for in Year One?
The construction area is such a popular area of provision for many children and unsurprisingly so, as it offers such a range of learning opportunities for all children.
By using many different components, such as small loose parts (conkers, pinecones, buttons, plastic beads), small wooden blocks, pipes and cogs, and lego, the children are continuously desiginning.
They plan their creations, select their materials carefully through investigation and then problem solve during the construction process. These skills are key to becoming resilient, confident learners.
