English - Spring
In English this term, we will be kicking off the year with a recount written in role as someone living through the Blitz, before moving on to writing a letter home in role as an evacuee sent away from the city to live with strangers in the countryside.
Following this, we will be exploring ‘Rose Blanche’ – a moving picture book which tells of the struggles of the Jewish community during WWII through the eyes of a young German girl. We will be writing our own narratives based upon this thought-provoking text.
In terms of non-fiction, we will be learning all about the appropriate style and tone for an effective newspaper report, before writing our own about the ‘Battle of Dunkirk’.
Finally, we will then be writing our own diary entries in role as soldiers or other key personnel involved in the ‘little ships’ rescue of the soldiers from the beaches of Dunkirk.
