Mrs Sharon Bailey Chair & Safeguarding Link Co-opted 24th September 2021

I have been a Governor at King Edward Primary School since September 2017. I am committed to Primary education as I was a teacher for more than 20 years prior to taking early retirement to help look after my brood of grandchildren. Two of my grandsons attend King Edwards which is how I came to be involved in the school where you may well see me in the playground or helping around school.

Mrs Phee Smith Vice-Chair Co-opted

17th May 2023

I am Phee Smith a Community Governor.  I have had a long and happy career in teaching and now I am enjoying being a Governor.  I am originally from South Africa and I chose teaching as a career as I love children.

Mr Martin Tate Training Link Co-opted

Our family all attended King Edward and I have been a governor here since 1987. I served on Mansfield District Council for 12 years and have served as a senior manager at secondary level. I am pleased to be able to support  the school where my formal education began.
Mrs Kerry Berry Attendance Link Co-opted 29th October 2021

I feel very proud to be a governor at King Edward Primary School. I was co-opted in October 2017 and I’ve been a regular volunteer in school since 2013.  I have a son who is in Year 7 at Brunts and a daughter in Year 4.

King Edward is a large yet friendly primary school and the children, staff and senior leaders are working incredibly hard to make King Ed’s the very best it can be. The governing body are very much an active part in this mission. I applied because both of my children are or have been incredibly happy and have flourished with the experiences and opportunities they have had. I believe that every child should achieve their full potential, have fun in their learning and feel safe and happy at school. I hope that I can do my part in this and to ensure that it continues.

Some of my governor roles include attendance, SEND and safeguarding as well as being a regular at meetings and governor days in school.

Mrs Danielle Martin Health & Safety Link Parent 29th October 2021

I currently have two children at King Edward Primary and have been a Parent Governor since October 2017.  I believe that the headteacher, teachers and staff should be given as much support as possible to make the school a better place and somewhere children enjoy coming to in order to learn for their futures – being a Parent Governor helps me to do this.

As parents we all want the same thing – the best educational start we can give to our children.

I am passionate about giving our children the best possible start in life and I want to help the school with continual improvements to performance.

For the past 14 years I have run my very own Driving School, my interest include spending time with my family, holidays and keeping fit.

Mr Sean Holborn   Co-opted 17th May 2023

I have been a community and now co-opted Governor at King Edward's since 2011.  I live and work in the close local community.  I am married with two children who have both happily attended King Edward Primary school.

In my role as a governor I am a critical friend of the school, willing to ask questions, open to ideas and find my role at the school a rewarding and positive experience.

I have travelled extensively in Europe.  I am an amateur gigging musician, golfer, enjoy dog walking and can best be described as an all-round “social, but old, geek” according to my kids!
