Reporting Concerns

What to Do If You Have a Concern

At King Edward Primary School, we want every child and family to feel safe, supported and listened to. If you ever have a concern—big or small—we are here to help.

1. Concerns About Your Child (learning, behaviour, wellbeing or friendships)

Please speak to us as soon as possible. The quickest way to resolve worries is through open communication.

Step 1 – Speak to your child’s class teacher

  • They know your child best in school and can usually resolve most issues quickly.

Step 2 – If you still have concerns, contact the phase leader:

  • EYFS Lead: Laura Eliis
  • KS1 Lead Year 1 and 2: Pauline Callahan
  • Year 3 and 4 Lead: Michael Vere
  • Year 5 and 6 Lead : Amy Binks

Step 3 – Speak to a senior leader

  • Deputy Headteacher: Michael Vere
  • Headteacher: Mrs Emma Estell

We will always take your concerns seriously and work with you to find a solution.

2. Concerns About Safeguarding (a child’s safety or welfare)

If you are worried that a child might be at risk of harm, please contact a member of our safeguarding team immediately.

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs):

  • Designated Safeguarding Lead: Emma Estell
  • Deputy DSLs: Michael Vere, Pauline Callahan, Amy Binks, Mikhalia Daniels, Luke Braybrooke

You can speak to us in person or by calling the school office 01623 472215

If a child is in immediate danger, call 999.

If you need to contact Nottinghamshire Children’s Services directly, call MASH: 0300 500 80 90.

3. Concerns About School Procedures, Policies or Staff

We will always try to resolve concerns informally first.

Step 1 – Speak to the Headteacher

Mrs Emma Estell will listen, investigate and explain next steps clearly.

Step 2 – Formal Complaint (if needed)

If you feel the issue has not been resolved, you can follow our Complaints Policy which is available on the website under Policies. We will:

  • Acknowledge your concern
  • Investigate fairly
