At KEPS, our curriculum is designed to inspire every child to learn with confidence, curiosity and ambition. Rooted in our five core values of Compassion, Confidence, Courage, Community and Curiosity, it provides rich and meaningful learning experiences that develop children's knowledge, understanding and character.
We want every child to become a knowledgeable, confident and thoughtful learner who understands the world around them, recognises their place within it and appreciates their responsibility towards others.
Our curriculum is ambitious, inclusive and knowledge-rich. It is carefully planned and sequenced so that children build on what they already know, make meaningful connections and develop secure knowledge and understanding over time.
Language, communication and reading are at the heart of everything we do. We recognise that strong language skills unlock learning and future opportunities. Through rich vocabulary, high-quality texts and purposeful discussion across the curriculum, we develop children who can communicate confidently, articulate their thinking and develop a lifelong love of reading.
We have high expectations for every child. Our curriculum reflects the diversity of our school and the wider world, providing appropriate support and challenge so that all pupils, including those with SEND and those who face disadvantage, can access ambitious learning and achieve their potential.
Our five core values, known as the 5 Cs, are woven throughout our curriculum. They are more than words: they shape how children learn, think, explore and understand the world.

Our 5 Cs – Accessible Text Version
Compassion: Understanding different perspectives, showing empathy and recognising how our actions affect others.
Confidence: Developing the knowledge, language and self-belief to share ideas, explain thinking and express informed opinions.
Courage: Embracing challenges, questioning assumptions, exploring unfamiliar ideas and making reasoned judgements.
Community: Developing a sense of belonging and responsibility, understanding our connections with others locally, nationally and globally.
Curiosity: Asking questions, investigating ideas, exploring evidence and developing a deeper understanding of the world.

Our values are purposefully embedded within curriculum learning rather than taught as separate activities. Each curriculum unit is thoughtfully linked to two of our core values, providing meaningful opportunities for children to deepen their subject knowledge while developing the qualities needed to become thoughtful, responsible individuals. As children progress through school, they encounter all five values in different subjects and contexts, developing a deeper understanding of how these values shape their thinking, learning and relationships.
Learning is organised into carefully sequenced units built around engaging enquiry questions. Children develop essential knowledge, explore increasingly complex ideas and apply their understanding through purposeful learning outcomes.
Through a broad range of subjects and enriching experiences, children develop subject knowledge, practical skills, creativity and an appreciation of the world around them.
Throughout their time at KEPS, children build on previous learning, develop subject-specific vocabulary and become increasingly independent and confident in explaining their thinking.
Our curriculum is enriched through visits, visitors, practical experiences and opportunities to explore the local community and wider world.
Our ambition extends beyond academic achievement. We want every child to leave KEPS with secure knowledge, strong communication skills, a love of learning and the confidence to embrace new challenges.
Guided by our five values, we aim to develop compassionate, courageous and curious young people who are proud of their achievements, respectful of others and ready for the next stage of their education and life beyond school.
We regularly check what children know, remember and understand through discussion, questioning, practical activities and their work over time. This helps teachers identify misconceptions, revisit important knowledge and support children to make progress.
As children move through school, we expect them to recall and connect their learning, use subject-specific vocabulary confidently and apply their knowledge and understanding in increasingly challenging situations.
