Year 1 Bread Making!

Week 6- 7.7.25

 

This week we are investigating plant growth overtime and looking at telling the time on a clock. We are also looking at geographical features of Livestock farms, and how they are often on hills or uneven land.

We have been doing lots of practise for Sports Day, as well as learning about features of summer as it has been very warm outside. We are also looking at time in Maths and geographical features in Geography. 

Week 5 provision enhancements

Matlock Farm Park trip! Exploring livestock and how to look after different breeds and types of animals.

Week 3- 16th June 2025

 

This week we have been recapping livestock farming, as well as drawing our new story map about Katie and the starry night painting by Vincent Van Gogh. In Maths, we are still focusing on money and adding different coins together. On Thursday, we are going on a trip to the farm, to recap what animals need and how we can use maps to locate different objects.

We have a great couple of weeks back, learning about plant growth in Science and features of Summer. In maths we have been looking at numbers to 100 and money. As well as our new English text- Katie and the Sunflowers!

Provision weeks 1 and 2 and computing- understanding what an algorithm is.

Week 5 - 19.05.25

 

This week, we are looking at maps in Geography, and how different maps have symbols and pictures, which represent different features. We are also writing our independent version of the story, Jim and the Beanstalk in English. In Maths, we have been looking at position and direction and turns.

Week 4- 12.05.25

This week we are looking at ongoing science observations regarding wild and common plants, deciduous and evergreen trees, and the basic structure of plants- by dissecting cress and labelling with luggage tags. In Geography, we are looking at Dairy farming and how cattle produce milk for profit. Writing has a suffix focus of er and ing, and Maths is exploring position and direction.

This week we are looking at comparing geographical locations and farms, using painting skills experimenting with different brushes in Art, Fractions in Maths, Prefixes in English, How plants need water to grow in Science, and looking at algorithms in construction.

This week in provision we have been looking at how plants make their own food in Science. We have also been looking at Livestock Farming in Geography and colour mixing to make secondary colours in Art.
