Biscuitology

During our science week we experimented different types of biscuits. We planned, observed and predicted which biscuit would be :-

- the best dunker?

- melt the quickest?

- taste the best?

We also sorted our biscuits by shape and colour.

Our key text has been Jasper's Beanstalk. Our teacher has helped us to orally retell the story. We planted our own beans and have been making sure they are getting sun and water to grow!

We have been sequencing main events in the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'.

Our Caterpillars!

We are so excited that we have caterpillars in nursery! We will feed them and observe them grow. We can't wait for the next stage of the journey! 

World Book Day 

For World Book Day we dressed up as a character from one of our favourite stories! Look at our amazing costumes. 

We took part in the 'Big Book Swap' and we were able to swap a book with other children in school!

We took part in the Great KEPS Potato Challenge! 

Pancake Day

We shared the story Mr Wolf’s Pancakes by Jan Fearnley.
We explored lots of aspects of science such as weighing, mixing and combining ingredients.
We loved tasting the pancakes with different toppings and we will our senses to taste, look, touch and smell.
We also had a go at flipping a pancake! 🥞

 

We are working so hard on our name writing in nursery!

Safer internet day

We shared the story 'Chicken's Clicking' and had circle time about how we can keep safe online and that we must not talk to strangers! We designed our own iPads and made masks from the story.

Children's Mental Health and Well-being week

For Mental Health week we had circle time and discussed how we grow and who helps us. We used our talking ted to take turns in sharing our ideas. We planted cress seeds in cotton wool to observe how it grows and we learnt what it needs to grow! We then made special 'Who helps us?' balloons which are on display in our classroom.

Look at our story map for Goldilocks and the Three Bears! We have been retelling the story for 3 weeks and acting it out in role play.

We have been very lucky! We get to dance for half an hour with dancing Clare once a week! We love having her in our classroom and keeping fit.

We have received a gold token for being a merit winner! We went to big school and chose a book from the vending machine!

We celebrated Chinese New Year!

Clay bears

We went to forest school on a hunt for natural materials we could use to make a clay bear! 

Where is Goldilocks?

We made our own bear headbands and made WANTED posters!

We went on a hunt around our school to find Goldilocks!

She was hiding in our school!

Goldilocks has been in our classroom! 

For our hook we found a crime scene from Goldilocks! We have investigated and she has eaten baby bears porridge, broken baby bears chair and LOOK! She is sleeping in baby bears bed!!!

We mixed the ingredients together to make porridge and then we tried our own porridge! 

We have been creating our own story maps to retell the story of The Three Little Pigs!

We have been busy baking!

We baked pig cakes and decorated the big bad wolf!

We have been busy building houses for the 3 Little Pigs! We have made sure they are strong so the big bad Wolf doesn't blow them down!

We have been learning about 'The Three Little Pigs'.

We have huffed and puffed to blow the houses down!

We went to Forest Schools and look at our houses we built for the 3 Little Pigs!
