King Edward Primary School and Nursery Excitement + Determination = Success

Computing

Technology is an integral part of everyday life. At King Edward Primary School we aim to prepare our children for a future in an environment which is shaped by technology. We want our children to be competent technology users. We believe that it is an essential part of the curriculum; a subject that not only stands alone but is woven and should be an integral part of all learning. Our aim is to create confident, independent learners who are able to design, create, explore and analyse information through the use of ICT.

Key Principles

  • Computing education equips pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world.
  • Computer Science, teaches pupils how digital systems work and how to put this knowledge to use through programming.
  • Pupils are equipped to use information technology to create programs, systems and a range of content.
  • Computing also ensures that pupils become digitally literate, so that they can express themselves and develop their ideas as active participants in a digital world and for their future workplaces.
