Summer

Creative

We have had lots of creative fun this week, we have made Farmer Duck masks, made paper plate ducks and driven cars through paints to decorate jeeps.

Mark Making

This week we spent time making marks in our writing areas inside and outside, we were able to create some fantastic pictures and begin to talk about the marks we had made.

Farmer Duck

This week we have begun to look at the story Farmer Duck, we have spoken about the characters and how Farmer Duck must be feeling throughout the story.

Baking

We cut up pieces of banana and strawberry and added it to a blender with a little milk. This was really noisy and whizzed the fruit up to make a smoothie which we drank and really enjoyed.

Maths

For our math sessions this week, we have been focusing on one less. Singing 5 Little Ducks and using props, helped us to recognise that when we had one less, our amount became smaller.

Forest Schools

In Forest Schools we have been exploring the mud kitchen area, we had lots of fun with all the different equipment.

We also found some bugs which we were able to look at closely and talk about.

Baking

During our baking session this week we made some delicious banana bites. We used Biscoff spread and added sliced banana which we left to set. They were soft when we ate them and a little bit sticky.

Physical

We have enjoyed lots of different physical activities this week. We had some different bikes and scooters to use, played games with the parachute and went up to the field to have an explore.

Noisy Farm

We have begun our topic called On the Farm, and this week we have been looking at the book the ‘Noisy Farm’. We have enjoyed meeting the main character Sam and learning about animals and their babies. In provision we explored animals in the hay and completed puzzles to make farm animals.

Investigation area

We have continued to build our understanding of oral hygiene and have used the toothbrushes to practice brushing the baby’s teeth.

Baking

We used different ingredients to make our own healthy mini pizza. We carefully added cheese spread to the cracker before adding a variety of toppings.

Forest Schools

In Forest Schools this week we used the tools to dig in the soil. We filled the different containers until they were full, some were quite heavy.

Maths

Our maths work has been about recognising one more. We enjoyed joining in singing a song where we added one more each time and were able to add one more cube to our tower.

Creative

We have had lots of creative fun this week. We decorated and cut out our own superhero masks, we made superveggies using real vegetables and made a collage of Supertato and Evil Pea.

Supertato

We are continuing our work on Supertato this week. We have discussed all the healthy characters in our story and talked about the types of food we like and don’t like.

Baking

This week we made a salad.

Fine Motor

There have been lots of opportunities to develop our fine motor skills. We have scooped, chopped and peeled a range of fruits and vegetables.

VE Day

We celebrated VE day by coming to school dressed in red, white and blue and spoke about why the day is so important. We looked at the Union Jack as well as some old pictures showing VE day celebrations.

Supertato

Our story this week is Supertato, we have used our senses to explore vegetables similar to those in the story.

Mark making

In writing, we used large pieces of paper to draw maps showing how to get to the bear’s house.

Goldilocks and the three bears

We have continued our learning about the story ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’ this week. The children explored more bear themed activities and used porridge oats to make our own delicious flapjack.

In writing, we made circles and lines to create a picture of a bear and Goldilocks.
 

Goldilocks and the three bears

We have learned about the story ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’ this week. The children described the three bears and Goldilocks and discussed healthy breakfasts such as cereal, porridge, fruit. In provision the children explored a variety of bear themed activities.
