Mrs Middleton, Miss Martin and Mrs Green
warmly welcome you to our Year 3 page for 2019/20. We have many exciting things already planned for this year. You will find all up to date letters for Year 3 on this page and current topics. Please keep checking for updates via the website, dojo and letters. If at anytime you have any questions or queries please do speak to a member of the Year 3 team. We strongly value working closely with Parents and Carers to best support our children.
There is a real emphasis on reading this year, across school. One of the best ways to get better at reading is to regularly practice, practice, practice. For this reason, please try to read at least four times a week at home. Please write in your child's reading diary if they read with you at home, or they can write in their diary with an adult's signature. As children move through the colour book bands there becomes a greater need to understand what they have read and be able to answer questions. You can help further by making sure that your child understands all of the vocabulary in their book, can talk about what they've read and answer questions based on the characters or author's use of words. Reading then feeds into their writing. You can't write about things if you don't have the vocabulary or experiences. Thank you for your support in promoting a love of books.
Creative homework will be given out at the start of each half term and is expected in during the last week before the half term break. This homework will be linked to the current topic.
Children will be tested on their spellings every Friday. Children will take spellings home that must be learnt during the week.
Reading books should be taken home every day for them to read independently or with an adult as frequently as possible.
PE and Swimming
PE is on a Wednesday. Please ensure your children have appropriate kit for this.
Swimming will be every Thursday afternoon until Easter 2020.
