Pitta bread pizza’s
This week during baking the children took pleasure making tasty pitta bread pizzas. The children each had a pitta bread and chose the toppings to put on top. The pizzas went in the over to cook. Then the children enjoyed eating them. Delicious!
Mark making
The children explored making lines up and down using scarves as part of our weekly squiggle activity. The children had to jump five times and make movements with their hands up and down. We had great fun!
Phonics
We will begin to learn all about the letter ‘e’.

Maths
We have continued to learn about number 5. The children explored counting 5 objects, showing 5 on their fingers, finding numerals 1-5 in the environment and matching the numeral 5 and 5 objects
Castles
We have started learning about castles this week. The children have explored playing in our new castle imaginative role-play area. The dressing up costumes have been very popular! We have also shared the story ‘Shhh!’ and discussed people who live in castles now and many years ago.

Valentine’s day
The children explored making pink using white and red paint and used shades of red when colouring, painting and printing in nursery. We also discussed the word ‘love’.
Mark making and internet safety day
The children listened to a story about ‘Smartie the Penguin’ and then they drew things they play on an I-pad or who to speak to if something isn’t right when using the internet.
Melting chocolate
As part of the science activities the children explored melting chocolate during baking this week. The children discussed what the chocolate looked like before and after and used the chocolate to cover cereals to make cakes and added pink and white marshmallows for valentine’s day.

We have continued to learn about number 5. The children explored different ways that number 5 can be made and recognising numeral 5.
Maddie Moate
We researched our prominent person for the Spring Term Maddie Moate. She is a TV presenter on CBeebies who has a program “Maddie’s do you know?” We learnt lots of scientific facts about space.

Children’s mental health day
The children were asked to wear non-uniform with the theme ‘express yourself’. During the day the children had opportunities to discuss how they felt linking to our ‘zones of regulation’ display and were given art materials to be creative.
Mark making
The children drew objects they would take to space and made marks to represent the words.
Chopping foods
The children used cutlery to chop up a variety of fruits to make a ‘moon space snack’. Once the fruits were chopped the children placed these onto a plain circular rice cake.

The way back home
We read the story ‘The way back home’ by Oliver Jeffers. It is a lovely picture book which shares how two characters from different planets can become friends and help each other by fixing their vehicles. The children will discuss how to be a friend who is helpful and kind.
Maths
We have been learning about number 5. The children explored counting 5 objects, showing 5 on their fingers and placing 5 counters on a 5 frame.

Chinses New Year decorating buns
The children helped mix the icing sugar to decorate the buns. They enjoyed discussing the colours of the sprinkles and the colour red of the icing.
Mark making
The children took part in copying Chinese symbols and making marks in different directions using paint, felt-tips and whiteboard pens.

We have been continued to deepen our understanding number 4. The children explored the composition by saying phrases like 2 and 2 make 4/ 3 and 1 make 4/ 1 and 3 make 4/ 0 and 4 make 4.
Chinese New Year
We read non-fiction texts about Chinese New Year. The children watched video clips of people who celebrate Chinese New Year and all the children took part in a dragon dance and played the drum to create the music. In provision the children explored many Chinese New Year activities.

Mark making
The children took part in squiggle sessions by mark making wiggly lines going upwards.
Iced moon biscuits
The children helped mix the icing sugar to decorate rich tea biscuits. They enjoyed discussing the colours of the sprinkles and the colour of the icing.
Physical Friday
During Physical Friday the children have the opportunity to develop their gross motor skills in the Early Years playground. They explore climbing, running, jumping etc.
Forest school
The children have been making dens outside in the forest area using large pieces of material. They explored light and dark using a variety of torches.

Underpants activities
The children were given a underpant template and they decorated them using patterns with large blocks, rollers and sponges.
Baking moon rice crispy cakes
The children loved making white chocolate moon rice crispy cakes in nursery. They all helped measure the ingredients and mix it all together carefully by sharing and taking turns.

Making new friends
We welcomed new friends into our school nursery this week and they have all done so well settling into the nursery routines.
Moon and alien craft activities
With guidance the children explored how to create an alien or moon paper plate using glue sticks, PVA glue and pritt sticks.
